Garment Industry
Garment industry is playing a vital role in the economy of the country. It is the fore-runner of all
industries in Bangladesh. The demand of garments comes just after food. About 25 lacs of people in
this crowded country are employed in garment industry. Bangladesh is earning a lot of foreign
currency with the help of garment industry. So its importance is very great in the economy of
Bangladesh. The cause of setting up garment industry in our country is its favourable environment,
much skilled and available labourers, available power sectors, supply of capital, govt and non-govt
patronage and initiative, developed transport and communication system, certain market,
technological knowledge and so on. The manufacturing products of garment industry of Bangladesh
are shirt, pant, children’s garment etc. There are more than 2000 garment factories in our country.
Most of the garment factories are in Dhaka and Chattogram. The garment industry plays a very
significant role in strengthening our poor economic frame. We should be more sincere and cordial to
make the industry more developed. Consequently, more foreign exchange will enter our country than
present.
